A Digital Fitness Journey along the Fuway in the Country Park
What new life experiences will unfold when the scenic Fuway meets digital civilization? Recently, Huang Sujuan, a resident of Fengyi Community in Wufeng Subdistrict, Gulou District, guided a reporter along the Fuway in the Country Park to explore the answer.
“I’m going to meet a friend.” Upon arriving at Fukang Plaza in Fushan Country Park, Huang Sujuan paused at the trail entrance. The check-in station immediately prompted, “Recognition successful, please start exercising.” Nearby, a smart screen displayed details like exercise mileage rankings, fitness tips, and the check-in station map. On the leaderboard, someone had already completed over 10 kilometers.
This is the smart fitness system installed along the trail in Fushan Country Park, offering features such as a route map, voice guide, and tree identification through QR code scanning. Huang Sujuan activated the “Talking Trail” with her phone. “A tree used to be just a tree, but now, by scanning the QR code, I can learn about its species and the best time to appreciate it. It makes me feel even more connected to nature.” As she walked along the trail, she naturally looked for the check-in stations. Each time her face was recognized, her exercise data popped up, showing the distance, duration, calories burned, and average speed, while also accumulating green energy.
“What can you do with green energy?” In response to the reporter’s question, Huang Sujuan sat down on a chair at the prayer platform and scanned the QR code to enable the smart seating function. “Xiao Ai, play some music,” she said. Besides that, there are other convenient services such as phone charging and mosquito repellent, all available by redeeming green energy. In addition to the smart seating, the “Xing Life” app’s marketplace allows users to exchange green energy for products or merchant coupons. Besides, the Certificate of Carbon Neutrality can be obtained by donating green energy.
After enjoying a song and getting some rest, the digital fitness journey continued. The Fuway winds through the mountains, connecting the beautiful scenery of lakes and mountains. Along the way, wisteria flowers bloomed and trees sprouted fresh green leaves, as if inviting visitors to a romantic spring date. Near Taohuatan, a meteorological monitoring system displayed environmental data, showing that the concentration of negative oxygen ions had exceeded 3,000 per cubic centimeter. Huang Sujuan remarked, “Fushan Country Park is truly a ‘natural oxygen bar!’”
This green environment, now supported by digital technology, is being increasingly protected by more and more people. Fushan Country Park has become the province’s “Internet+ National Volunteer Tree Planting Base,” allowing the public to get involved through activities like “online tree planting” and “online adoption.”
“Look, this is my friend.” At Furong Garden, Huang Sujuan stopped in front of a ginkgo tree, one that she has been caring for with green energy. After first scanning the code to establish guardianship, she regularly takes walks to “water” the tree with her green energy. The carbon reduction achieved through the tree’s photosynthesis is a testament to her commitment to a sustainable lifestyle.
Behind the experience that blends natural scenery with technological charm, digital systems are quietly ensuring the safety of visitors. “There are 300 public video cameras and 40 visual alarm terminals along the trail,” explained Huang Honghui, Director of the Management Office at the Fushan Country Park. When a visitor triggers the alarm, the on-duty staff will immediately locate the area using nearby cameras and initiate two-way voice communication. This year, the park also implemented a crowd-monitoring system to track the number of visitors in real time.
Currently, Gulou District is working on setting up 3D digital navigation screens and electric vehicle dispatch systems around the trail layout and key points of Fushan Country Park. Additionally, it is collaborating with companies from the Fuzhou Software Park to bring in more digital tech equipment, aiming to offer a more immersive smart experience during the Digital China Summit.
Fujian’s 25 years of digital development have brought 25 years of digital benefits to its people. In Fuzhou, more than 1,300 kilometers of the scenic Fuway have been fully digitized. Smart fitness and leisure areas are bringing the benefits of digital development to life, making them more tangible and accessible.
